Gene Krupa's Cymbal Collection *SOLD*
*SOLD*
Gene Krupa's personal Zildjian cymbal collection found inside the original leather bag.
The set consists of: one 20" A Zildjian & CIE Constantinople ride cymbal, one 18" A Zildjian & CIE Constantinople crash cymbal, one pair of 14" Zildjian Avedis hi-hats and one Zildjian Avedis hi-hat top cymbal. Gene's leather Zildjian bag is included in the sale.
The ride and crash cymbals have complex sustaining tones, while the pair of hi-hats are crisp with nice light overtones.
In Brooks Teglers report on the collection, he talks about Armand Zildjian sending Gene a new set of cymbals after he came out of retirement in 1970. The two Constantinoples would most likely be from that gift and played during Gene's last live performances with Benny Goodman in 1973. The hi hats date earlier and most likely have a much more interesting backstory. These cymbals were all well used by Gene.
Each sale will be accompanied by a Certificate Of Authenticity, and all items sold will remain on mcaulaydrums.com as a source to show their provenance.
