Also found in Gene Krupa's collection was this 1940's Slingerland Radio King 12" x 15" white marine pearl parade drum with the original heads and snare cords. When reviewing the liner notes on both Krupa records "Percussion King" and "The Mighty Two" it shows that a "field drum" was used as one of the snares for these recording sessions. As well, two different sources have said that while taking drum lessons with Gene in his Yonkers home, they always saw parade drums set up in the house. Based on this info it would seem that this snare drum had been played quite often by Gene Krupa. Notice what looks to be coffee stain marks on the top drum head!
